SMOS Sea Surface Salinity

The Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) sensor allows to retrieve the global sea surface salinity distribution. Since its launch in November 2009, data analysis and retrieval routines have matured enough to produce first global maps of the sea surface salinity. A first, preliminary set of the global distribution of the monthly mean sea surface salinity is now available at ICDC under http://icdc.zmaw.de/smos_sss.html?&L=0.
