Arctic Sea Ice Age

At NSIDC / CCAR, University of Colorado, sea ice extent and sea ice motion in the Arctic Ocean have been combined to obtain an estimate of the age of the Arctic sea ice. Careful motion tracking results in maps of the Arctic sea ice age distribution up to an age of 5+ years. A subset of the over 30 year long data set created by Mark Tschudi and co-workers is now available to ZMAW users under http://icdc.zmaw.de/seaiceage_arctic.html
